I mourn with you the loss of Dr. Hogan, but also celebrate his heavenly gain. He was a monumental influence in my life, as he was my homiletics professor at RTS Jackson and served as Interim Pastor at North Park Presbyterian Church while I was part-time Youth Pastor there. His preaching, teaching and conversations helped set the direction for my ministry, Scriptural study, and preaching/teaching methodology. I have so much respect for Dr. Hogan, and he will always hold a dear place in my heart. Prayers for God's comfort and peace.

Hey. I am Gwendolyn Carpenter. Dr.Hogan became very special to me over the last 14 years at Independence. At the time I was Director of Food Ministry. He was so full of joy and love. He always stop by my office Or kitchen to speak or to just have something sweet. Which I always had for him. I will never forget the day I was feeling mighty down and stress sitting in my office. He knock on the door to give me one of his books. For some reason I felt he knew how I was feeling, cause after he left my heart felt rejoiced. So I knew than and there God had sent him to cheer me up and to let me know I was appreciated and love at IPC.Jane played a big role in my life also. I just want the family to know they are in my prayers and I love them. Until we meet again Doc! Thank you! I will love you and will miss you dearly.
Jane and family,
I am thankful for the life and ministry of Dr Hogan and that our lives have connected. I think Dr Hogan is a person who spurs me on towards love and good deeds and I am encouraged through knowing him.
I remember Dr Hogan gave a sermon illustration using kudzu and how sin was like kudzu and if we didn't aggressively fight it then it would take over our life just like kudzu did in the South. I remember a wonderful meal at your home and a prayer together before I went home for the evening. And the small monument to the 20th Maine from Little Round Top at Gettysburg that you and Bill gave to me when you left Minneapolis is still displayed in my kitchen. May God comfort you in your loss.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
In Christ,
Mark
Dr. Hogan was very influential in my ministry development. I will always be grateful for him
Dear Hogan Family,
Our sincere sympathy is extended to your entire family as you mourn the passing of Dr. Hogan. We will always be grateful for his years of ministry at Calvary Christian Reformed Church in the Twin Cities. He brought us stability during some difficult times and faithfully preached the Word to us each Sunday.
We can only imagine the glory he is experiencing now at the feet of his Lord and Savior! May the peace of Emmanuel, God with us, be yours as you grieve his absence and also rejoice in his going home. What a day it will be when we are all reunited again!
with our love and prayers,
Tim and Linda Ribbens
Jane,
You and Bill were such a blessing to us at Calvary Church in Mpls. You and Bill ministered so wonderfully to us during a challenging time in Calvary's history. And both of you were such incredibly solid rocks. Thank you, thank you for the ministry you and Bill provided to Calvary.
Our oldest daughter, Rachel, wanted to make her public profession of faith and we asked Bill if he would work with her through that. Bill was AWESOME! He did an awesome job of working with Rachel, making sure her faith was sincere, and then leading her through her public profession of faith at Calvary.
Jane, we love you. We love Bill. Thank you both for the time you blessed us here in Mpls. You both were an immense blessing to us.
We're sorry for your loss of Bill but we know he is with Christ and someday you will join him. I look forward to seeing you and Bill in Heaven some day.

As a member of Calvary Christian Reformed church in Minneapolis, I had the joy to hear Dr. Hogan preach for a small part of his ministry journey. I still hear his voice, “sharper than a two edged sword”. Even more often I think of one particular sermon where he made the ringing gong of “By faith!” come alive as he recounted the heroes of the faith in Hebrews 11. It has been one of my favorite scripture passages ever since. A good and faithful servant to be sure, who touched the lives of many, and one of my personal heroes of the faith! God’s blessings to Jane, the family, and all those who will miss his presence here on earth.

I’m one who considers Pastor Hogan a giant in my spiritual journey! His sermons set a foundation of truthful biblical learning that still remains almost 50 years after hearing it the first time. Praying for Jane and the family during this time.
