Doyle Waldrop's Obituary
LT. COLONEL U.S. Army (Ret.) DOYLE H.”BUD” WALDROP, JR., 80, died on March 2, 2010 at the Memphis Jewish Home in Memphis. He was born May 31, 1929 in Newton, Mississippi to Doyle H. Sr. and Mary Shannon Waldrop. Bud attended East Central Junior College in Decatur, Mississippi, and graduated from the University of Mississippi in May 1957. He served in the Army in the Korean Conflict and remained in the National Guard and Army Reserves. A faithful member of the Graceland Baptist Church in Memphis and the Hernando Baptist Church in Hernando, Mississippi, he taught men’s Sunday School classes and served as a deacon. A successful pharmaceutical sales representative, he worked for the Parke-Davis and Schering Plough Companies. He was married to Lexie Nelson Waldrop for 37 years before her death in 1991. Survivors include Cathy and Alan Doyle of Memphis, James Alan Doyle of Providence, Rhode Island, Stuart Doyle of Madison, Mississippi, Jane and Wayne Williamson, Shannon Williamson and Wesley Williamson of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and his sister, Mary Shannon Rowan and family of Atlanta, Georgia. Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice. A visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, March 5; and Funeral services will be Saturday, March 6, all at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis.
