Douglas Lee Turner's Obituary
Douglas Lee Turner of Memphis, Tennessee passed away with family on June 4, 2021 at the age of 74. Doug was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents Howard Duncan Turner of Providence, Rhode Island, Helen Martha Glish of Philadelphia and his Aunt, Anna Glish of Maple Shade, New Jersey. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Spooner Turner, two daughters Kellie Turner Jones (Kevin) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kimberly Turner Koett (Kenneth) of Decatur, Georgia, and two grandsons Turner Scott Koett (his namesake) and Harrison Anthony Jones (a true gift from God).
Doug was the Founding Owner and General Manager of Micro Star, LLC, a technology equipment short-term rental company. He was a consummate businessman and entrepreneur. Doug installed the majority of the solar hot water systems under the TVA project in Memphis, TN. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, 1/92nd Field Artillery unit, Service Battery, Brave Cannons. He was a Corvette and racing enthusiast, feeling the need for speed, and loved driving Mean Green.
Doug was a doting father, who always put his family first. He was a firm believer in Baptism and willing to help anyone. He graduated from Memphis State University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Doug leaves behind a multitude of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation and a Rosary will be held on Monday evening June 7 from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 8 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Germantown, Tennessee, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
