Douglas Rockett's Obituary
Douglas Carson Rockett, 46, died Saturday, June 4th, at his home in Eldora, Colorado. Born February 14, 1965 in Memphis, TN, Doug was an avid music and sports fan who traveled the world and pursued many academic and professional endeavors. A graduate of Memphis University School (1983) and Rhodes College (1987), he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree from the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1994 and completed the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Cytotechnology Program in 2001. Preceded in death by his father Dr. John F. Rockett and aunt Nancy Greaves O’Connell, Doug also leaves many friends and family members. He is survived by his mother Carol Ann Rockett and his sister Karen McFadden (Steve), both of Memphis. Doug also leaves his uncle Dr. Ruary O’Connell, cousins Katherine (Tom), Neill (Jeanne) and his nephew and nieces. After a private burial at Memorial Park, a memorial service will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Germantown on Friday, June 10 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to St. George’s Episcopal Church or the American Diabetes Association.
