Douglas Monroe Platt's Obituary
Douglas Monroe Platt, 84, of Olive Branch died Thursday, October 29, from complications caused by congestive heart failure. He was born September 11, 1925, in Escatawpa, AL, the second son of H.M. and Virgie Platt. A WWII veteran, he retired as a stationary engineer and department director from both the MED and LeBonheur hospitals. A member of Oak Forest Church of God for over 60 years, he served his Creator with all his heart, mind, and spirit; and his church with his time, talents, and gifts.He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his loyal hunting and golf “buddies.” He is survived by his devoted family and a multitude of caring friends. A loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.Viewing and visitation will occur Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. preceding a 1:30 p.m. service at Oak Forest Church of God, 7700 Getwell Rd., Southaven, MS.
