Douglas F. Henderson Sr.'s Obituary
Douglas F. Henderson, Sr., 90, of Hohenwald, TN passed away on December 23, 2023.
He was born in Memphis, TN, and graduated from Whitehaven High School and Memphis State University. Mr. Henderson was an avid Memphis State fan and was a longtime usher at the Liberty Bowl Memphis State football games. He moved to Hohenwald Tennessee in 2000. He enjoyed country life, outdoors, hunting, and golfing.
He was an Army veteran. Mr. Henderson served as a drill sergeant at Camp Stewart in Georgia. After leaving the Army he attended Memphis State and graduated with a master’s degree. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service before being hired by the IRS. He retired as a District Manager after 30 years of federal service. After retirement from the federal government, he started his own federal tax consultant business.
Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents. Floyd and Ola Henderson, his wife of 65 years, Danie Stovall Henderson, and two siblings, Curtis Henderson and Gervis Anderson.
He is survived by his son, Doug Henderson, Jr. (Jan), two grandchildren, Matt Henderson (Jenna), Amy Bourdeau (Xavier), great granddaughter, Vivian Henderson, and stepson, Robert Watts (Kedren) of Virginia.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery.
