Doug A. Nanninga's Obituary
Douglas A. Nanninga, 72, of Cordova, TN passed away on Friday, October 10. Doug was born in Le Mars, Iowa on July 29, 1942 to Lloyd and Irene Nanninga. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 17, and completed international tours in France, Vietnam, and the Philippines. Doug was also stationed at bases in Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah during his military career. He retired in 1980 after completing twenty years of active duty, with military decorations including the Bronze Star, the Air Force Commendation Medal and multiple Vietnam service awards. Doug was a pilot, and was employed with the FAA in Oklahoma City. He then worked as a manager of multiple GMC dealerships throughout New Mexico and Texas, and ended his career working for Sandy Corporation.Doug and Glenda Nanninga were married on December 10, 1988. They arrived in Memphis twenty years ago and loved to travel, entertain, and host their Potluck group and family from across the country. Glenda preceded Doug in death on June 16 of this year. Survivors include his children Cindy Osborn (David) of El Paso, TX, Paul Sides (Sherri) of Spring, TX, and Beth Johnson (Jeff); grandchildren, Courtney, Catherine, Lindsay, Sarah, and Samantha; brother, Bruce Nanninga of Le Mars, IA, and nephews Matthew (Ann) and Nick (Kim) and niece Katie (BJ).The family will receive friends from 5-6 PM Friday, October 17 at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
