Dorothy Walker's Obituary
Dorothy Gibbons Walker, 83, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Germantown. She was born May 11, 1931 in Light, Ark., and lived most of her life in Kennett, Mo., before moving to Collierville in 2008. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and was retired from Emerson Electric in Kennett. Survivors include two daughters and one son: Rebecca Babineaux, married to Mike, Mary Beth Walker, married to Ken Heaghney, and Joseph C. Walker, married to Cathy; grandchildren, Tracy Babineaux, married to Dave Batcheldor, Nick and Sam Heaghney, Will and Isaac Walker; and two great-grandchildren, Anna and Stephen; a sister, Laverne West of Demopolis, Ala., one brother, Joe A. Gibbons and sister-in-law Dee of St. Charles, Mo., and many nieces, nephews and close friends. She was the widow of Donald C. Walker, and was also preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A. and Addie Mary Gibbons and four brothers, Eugene “Jack,” James C. “Carrell,” Rufus L. “Leck,” and Chester “Ray” Gibbons. Visitation is Monday, May 26, 5-7 p.m. and the funeral is Tuesday, May 27, 11:30, at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar. Burial will follow at a later date in Kennett.
