Dorothy Sims' Obituary
DOROTHY EVELYN KELLEY SIMS, 86, of Cordova, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2015. She was born in Fayette County, TN on August 20, 1928 and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Sims; her father Lester Kelley; her mother, Annie Jo Kelley; and three sisters, Josephine Jones, Lucille Barbour, and Norma Abshure. She is survived by two daughters, LaDonna Moore of Cordova and Patti (Bill) Gidden of Tunica; two grandsons, Bill (Lindsay) Gidden and Samuel Gidden; and one great-granddaughter, Mary Stanford. She is also survived by her sisters, Elinor Grusin of Germantown and Louise Carlton of Hot Springs; brothers-in-law, W.L. Barbour and Roy Sims; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Sims, Gladys Byrd, Bernice Robertson and Rue Nell Peters; and many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue on Thursday, March 5, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:30 a.m. There will be no graveside services. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119,”Behind the Stone Wall.”
