Dorothy Vea Polk's Obituary
Dorothy Vea Polk, 60, passed away July 30, 2011. She retired as a teacher from Memphis City Schools after 32 years. Ms. Polk was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three sisters, Pat Boyd (Bill), Peggy Kent, and Jan Thompson (Gordon), and one brother Lewie Polk, III (Leeann), eight nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews. As an educator she was devoted to her students both in and outside of the classroom. She was a devoted sister, always supportive of everything her brother, sisters, nieces, and nephews were undertaking. Her love of life, laughter, and countless friends helped her cope with difficult times she faced. Vea was a devoted Christian and was confident of her promise of eternal life. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 4, also at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will be in the Memorial Park Mausoleum.
