Dorothy Bryce- Morton's Obituary
Dorothy Elizabeth Dyess Bryce Morton passed away on April 9, 2016. Dorothy was born in Waynesboro, Mississippi November 22, 1925 to William Reynolds Dyess, founder of Dyess, Arkansas, and Margaret Jackson Dyess Wade. She lived in Arkansas until moving to Memphis in 1940 and graduated from Hutchison School. She attended the William and Mary College, the University of Texas and Southwestern (Rhodes College). Dorothy was married to W. H. Bryce, Jr. (deceased) for 56 years and re-entered marriage to Fred M. Morton in 2007. She was active in many organizations in Memphis including PEO Chapter I, Junior League, Kings Daughters, Le Bonheur Club and Travel Club, Circle of Flowers Garden Club, The Sewing Club, Anna Circle at Second Presbyterian Church. She was a long time member at Second Presbyterian Church. She is survived by four children, Elizabeth Bryce Hackett (Michael), Thomas J. Bryce (Mary Beth), John D. Bryce (Debbie) and Margaret Bryce Robertson (Dan). She was predeceased by her son, William Bryce, III (Patricia) and her two brothers Robert W. Dyess and William R. Dyess, Jr. She had 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Hackett Harden (Nathan), Dr. Christian Hackett (Marianne), Missy Bryce Perkins (Stephen), Emily Bryce Bowie (Sean), Jonathan Hackett (Nicole), Ashley Bryce Riney (Jamie), Daniel Hackett, William Robertson (Amy), David Hackett, Brian Robertson, Bradley Robertson, Durham Bryce, 17 great grandchildren, Brooke Harden, Olympia Harden, Will Perkins, Virginia Bowie, Scarlett Harden, Elizabeth Hackett, Dorothy Bowie, George Hackett, Tyler Perkins, Hawkins Harden, Mary Margaret Hackett, Thomas Bowie, Bryce Riney, Peter Hackett, Hope Riney, Bryce Bowie and Henry Hackett. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or Second Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be Saturday, April 16 at 1:30 p.m. with the service at 3:00 p.m. at Second Presbyterian Church. Family burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
