Dorothy Claire McConnell's Obituary
Dorothy “Claire” McConnell, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the Dogwood Village of Orange, Virginia. She was born on September 20, 1924, in Jackson, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Michael Lloyd and Pauline Parker Lloyd. She was also predeceased by her husband, Allan Donald McConnell, Sr.; a sister, Nancy L. Luttrell; and a granddaughter, Shannon Claire McConnell. Claire was a retired manager of the Memphis Bank Clearing House, a homemaker, and a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Memphis where she spent the last years of 56 years teaching Sunday School. Her passion in life was the study of God’s Word. She is survived by a loving son, Allan Donald McConnell Jr. and wife, Jo Ann of Culpeper; three grandchildren, Allan Donald McConnell, III and wife, Terri, of Purcellville, Virginia, Mylinda Green and husband, Rick, of Stafford, Virginia, and Michael McConnell of Culpeper; six great-grandchildren, Andrew and Shannon McConnell, Hailey, Sean, Lily, and Falyn Green. Also surviving are two brothers, Parker Lloyd and wife, Helen, William Lloyd and wife, Joan, both of Olive Branch, Mississippi, one brother-in-law, Lavoyd Luttrell of Hernando, Mississippi, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held at the Lael Baptist Church in Lignum, Virginia. A private graveside service for family and friends will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Memorial Park Cemetery.
