Dorothy Lovelace's Obituary
Dorothy Lovelace, aged 94, passed away October 18, 2023, following an extended illness. She was born on July 18th, 1929 in Memphis Tennesse to Era and William Wade. Raised by a single mom with her sister, she attended Tech High School in Memphis.
After high school she married the love of her life Walter Lovelace. Together they raised their three children. As a devoted and loving mother, she saw to her family's every need including their spiritual development.
She later became a grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren whom she loved deeply. Then a great-grandmother to three outstanding boys.
Walter and Dorothy enjoyed activities with their family, traveling, square dancing, attending gospel concerts and participating in church events. Dorothy loved being around people and people enjoyed her. She cultivated many strong friendships and was always "the life of the party". Walter passed away on November 19th, 1995 leaving a void in her life that could never be filled.
After raising her family, she became business owner winning many awards for outstanding performance. She also was elected to serve as an officer on the Board Directors of the Continental Condominiums in Panama City Florida.
Dorothy was a faithful member of Bellevue Baptist Church and would tell everyone she was on the "cradle roll" there as an infant. She loved the Lord and Lord loved her. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 91:4 "He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge."
Dorothy was preceded in her death by her husband Walter Lovelace, son Richard Lovelace, daughter Pam Gremillion, mother Era (Wade) Sharp, father William Wade, and sister Mary Lou Peiper. She is survived by her son Steve Lovelace (Andrea, grandchildren Steven (Leslie), Andrew (Kelly), Elyse Lovelace Caudle (Daniel) and great grandchildren Aidan Lovelace, Ryan Lovelace and Jake Lovelace.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lovelace will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Riverside Chapel at Memorial Park Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation an hour prior to the service starting at 9:00am. Burial will follow on Memorial Park Cemetery.
