Dorothy Hays' Obituary
DOROTHY ANN STROH HAYS passed away peacefully May 10, 2013, at the home of her daughter in Glen Allen, Virginia. She was 92 years young and predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret. USAF) Claude Pete Hays, Jr. Throughout her life, her family was the heart and soul of her existence. She was known for her gracious smile and bottomless optimism. Dorothy was a source of encouragement and never missed attending any special event of her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children, whenever possible. She and her parents were charter members of Second Presbyterian Church of Memphis and continued as an auxiliary member of the Memphis Chapter of Military Officers Association of America. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Claude Pete Hays III and his wife, Susan of Jackson, MS; daughter, Debbie Hays Powers and her husband, Keith of Glen Allen, VA; grandchildren, Claude Pete Hays IV and wife, Suzy of Jackson, Ashley Hays Hage and husband, Michael of Gulfport, Peyton Lantz Hays of Cambridge, MA, Bradley Powers and wife, Blair of Asheville, NC and Emily Powers of Richmond, VA. Great-grand-children are Sydney and Sophie Hays, Michael and Anderson Hage and McKenna Powers. A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Memphis Memorial Cemetery.
