Dorothy Drees' Obituary
Dorothy Stacy Drees, 98, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 and is now with her Savior. She was born May 31, 1919 to Doris Meyers Stacy & Rowland Lee Stacy in Memphis, TN. She was married for 60 years to the late Col. Fred W. Drees Jr., USAF. They were college sweethearts at Southwestern, now Rhodes College, where she was president of Tri Delta and he was captain of the Football Team. She was First Harpist with the Memphis Symphony 1939-1944. Dorothy moved all over the world as the wife of an Air Force Officer. She was a member of the Memphis Harp Society, Kirby Woods Garden Club, Hermitage Chapter NSDAR, and was active in numerous Military Officer Wives’ Clubs. She lived a long, productive life and blessed a lot of people. She leaves two children, a daughter, Doris Drees “DeeDee” McKimm of Tallapoosa, GA., formally of Bartlett, TN and a son, Fred W. Drees III (Debra Nail Drees), of Bartlett, TN. She also leaves 3 granddaughters Stacy Stevens (Rick), Memphis, TN . Natalie Waters (Rob), Franklin, TN and Lauren Drees, Nashville, TN; and five great granddaughters, Mattie & Lilly Stevens and Audrey, Elanor & Caroline Waters. Visitation will be Saturday, July 8 from 10:30-11:30 with the service to follow at 11:30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home
