Dorothy Ann Dickey's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Dickey, 99, slipped away from this life to the next, Thursday, August 26, 2021, at her son’s home. Born in Hardy, Arkansas on February 4, 1922, she became a long time resident of Memphis where she graduated from Humes High in 1939. Trained at the Miller Hawkins Business School, she was a secretary for C.F. Work and Sons. She was a volunteer for the Memphis Union Mission and Child Evangelism. Three Presbyterian Churches pointed her to the source of living water: Historic Chelsea Ave, Heritage and Independent. Proverbs 3:5-6 was her life verse. She lived with her son and family for the last nine years of her life where she loved the autumn colors of east Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Winston F. Dickey, parents, Vennie Arthur Baxter and Annie Rooney Batchelder Baxter, siblings: Louise ( Russ) Baker, twins Jack and Joe (Jean) Baxter, and Gene Baxter. She leaves behind her son, Winston Dickey and his wife Connie of Luttrell TN, grandson Martin Dickey of Newport News, VA and sister-in-law Dorothy Baxter of Fort Lauderdale, Fl. A host of nieces and nephews scattered across the U.S. fondly remember their Aunt Dorothy.
Her funeral will be held at Memorial Park, Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:30 pm with visitation from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a private burial at Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be sent to Independent Presbyterian Church, 4738 Walnut Grove Rd, Memphis TN 38117
