Dorothy M. Bolton's Obituary
Dorothy McElroy Bolton, 94 of Memphis Tennessee went home to the Lord on August 13, 2013. Dorothy was born in Wynne, Arkansas August 1918 to Ollie Chowning and Charlie Lee McElroy. She is survived by her children, Anita Kay Bolton Archer (Bob) of Jackson, Tennessee; Walter (Skip) Bolton (Vickie) of Eads, Tennessee; Gary Wayne Bolton (Deborah) of Collierville, Tennessee, grandchildren Matthew Bolton, Jeffrey Bolton and Anna Bolton; great grandchildren, Olivia and Jeffrey Randolph Bolton and a sister Sara Higgins. Dorothy was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, a longtime employee of the City of Memphis at the Liberty Bowl Stadium and Office Manager for Dr. Cary Kuykendall. She was an avid bridge player, sports enthusiast (especially University of Memphis) and a faithful friend to many. Her love of gardening was evidenced in her always beautiful balcony. Until sight was taken from her, she loved volunteering at The Church Health Center and St. Luke’s UMC among many organizations. Her large screen TV allowed her to enjoy all sports events especially those related to University of Memphis. Most of all Dorothy was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 16th at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668 Poplar Avenue, with a Memorial Service to follow at noon in the chapel.
