Dorothy Faye Betts' Obituary
Dorothy Faye Pritchard Betts was born on August 22, 1930 in Memphis, Tennessee to Roy Isaac Pritchard and Irene Wall Pritchard. She passed from this life peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2022 but she leaves an enduring legacy.
A graduate of Messick High School, Faye was very involved in school and also attended Union Avenue Church of Christ. She was blessed with so many talents that included her love for art, sewing and gardening. Many were blessed by her gifts.
She made beautiful drapes for clients then followed her children to Memphis Harding Academy to serve as secretary to Dr. Harold Bowie. She worked at Tom’s Peanuts for a few years before becoming the bookkeeper at Highland Street Church of Christ.
She loved the Lord and pressed that into her children. When asked how she was able to balance all she was able to do, she would say that she prayed over each day and each child knowing that God was in control.
Mema Faye was loved by her 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Her smiles were never bigger than when she was able to hold and hug them.
Dorothy Faye Betts was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Irene Pritchard and her brother, Billy Pride (Charlsie) Pritchard of Dallas, Texas. Faye is survived by her brother, Roy Alan (Freda) Pritchard of Memphis, Tennessee and her 5 children, Richard Wayne (Cindy) Betts of Nashville, Tennessee, Janice Faye (Mike) Musick of Bartlett, Tennessee, Rodney Bryan (Michelle) Betts of Collierville, Tennessee, Randy Betts of Franklin, Tennessee and Jamie Lawrence Betts of Franklin, Tennessee and Robin Alan (Laurie) Betts of Oakland, Tennessee. Her 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren live on to continue the legacy of this sweet woman.
On Wednesday, October 19, visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Church of Christ, 400 N. Houston Levee, followed by a memorial service at noon.
To honor our sister, aunt, mom and Mema, we ask that all memorial gifts be given to Highland Church of Christ, Memphis Harding Academy or HopeWorks.
