Doris Miller's Obituary
Doris Ethridge Miller, 86, passed away December 27, 2014. She was born October 16, 1928 in Clarksville, TN to Rubine Miles and Robert L. Ethridge. She recieved her degrees in education and guidance from the University of Memphis. She taught for 30 years as a school teacher at Snowden Elementary School and a counselor at the Shrine School. In 1976, won the Outstanding Leadership in Elementary Education award. She had many friends and loved children. She considered her students to be part of her family. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Kirby Woods Garden Club, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Dot believed everything came through the heart. She is survived by her sons, Robert Miller (Robin) and Bart Miller; grandson, Kaven Brick (Melanie); and great-granddaughters, Paige Brick and Madeline Grace Brick. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Miller. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, December 30 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 31 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis TN 38119, “Behind the Stone Wall.”
