Doris Christenbury Madsen's Obituary
DORIS CHRISTENER MADSEN, 88, passed away peacefully at St Francis Hospital on May 8, 2013. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Fred and Myrtle Christenbury. Her memories are treasured by her husband, Grant C. Madsen, Jr.; brother, Lawson Christenbury; daughters, Gail Lail and Lorraine Buckley; son, Trey Madsen; grandchildren, David A. Lail, Crystal Buckley and Chesley Madsen IV; three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Fred, Jr. and her sister, Elsie Collier. She was retired from kindergarten teaching at Macon School, First Christian Academy, and Lawler School. She graduated from Central High School and attended Rhodes College and University of Tennessee Martin. She was president of the American Legion Junior Auxiliary, Treasurer of her sorority and Monitor of Women’s Circle #9 of Evergreen Presbyterian Church and was awarded Life Member of Presbyterian Women. Doris was a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed many other volunteer community activities including Each One, Teach One. With all her varied interests and accomplishments, her family was always at the top of her list. You may choose to make a donation to Girl Scouts of America in memory of our beloved Doris.
