Doris Elizabeth Green's Obituary
Doris Elizabeth Westmoreland Green was born March 7th 1941 and died on December 19, 2023 surrounded by family under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
She was born to Gladys Wilbanks Westmoreland and John Hubert Westmoreland in Ashland, MS who preceded her in death. Her father died when she was 2 months old and she was raised by Walter Lee Kidd who also preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Green, in 1986 who she married on April 29, 1960. Her best friend and sister in Christ, Judy Poyner, preceded her in death in August of 2023. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Walter Kidd, Irene Kidd, Buddy Westmoreland, Charles Westmoreland, Grace McDonald, Christine Lewelling and WT Westmoreland and survived by siblings, Jean Hopper and Mae Horvath. Doris and Leroy had 4 children, Johnny (Holly) Green, Elisa, Rhonda Masters (Pat) and Michael Green (Brigitt). Those 4 children gave her 12 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren with one on the way. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Doris adored her family and was always open for visits and giving the best advice. She was a long time member of Macon Road Church of Christ and Berclair Church of Christ.
Doris retired from MATA where she drove a handicap bus for many years, she loved the people who rode her bus and they loved her. She cared for many family members in her home and would always help in any way she could. Serving her church family was very important to her. She also worked at Harding Academy in the school lunch room and drove a school bus to offset the cost of tuition for the children.
One of her grand-daughters described her perfectly. She was tenacious when it came to something she believed in, resilient in every situation that came her way, she never stopped fighting to live her life. She was expressive in her feelings and facial expressions, you never had to wonder what she was thinking.
Above all else, she loved our Lord and her family so very much. We would like to thank Gentiva Hospice out of Grenada, MS for their guidance and care in those last days. The rest of the family would like to thank Pat and Rhonda Masters for opening their home and taking exceptional care of Doris for the last several months of her life.
