Doris L. Ellis' Obituary
Doris McBride Ellis, 95, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2011. Born July 24, 1915, the eldest of three daughters born to Jessie Bunion McBride and Birtie Mae Johnston McBride Cherry, Doris enjoyed a life rich in faith, family and friends. One of the founding members of the “Keenagers” at Decatur Trinity Christian Church, Doris was the oldest member of the congregation of which she was an active member for eighty-two years (1927-2011). She was a graduate of Humes High School. She was preceded in death by her husband William R. Ellis, Sr. and her son William R. (Ronnie) Ellis, Jr., and sisters Carnell McBride Grissom, and Sible McBride Gandy. Survived by Daughter-In-Law Ann T. Ellis Grandchildren Christopher T. (Diane) Ellis, Natalie B. (Alan) Vesey, Linda B. (Oliver) Benton, 6 great grandchildren , 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Memorial Park Funeral Home 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 9 with the funeral service to follow at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Decatur Trinity Christian Church.
