Doris Cannon Tate's Obituary
DORIS CANNON TATE, age 92, of Germantown, died June 5, 2013 at her home, the Village at Germantown. She was the widow of Pressly B. Tate, Jr., who was President of Fischer Steel and Southern Wire Mesch Companies. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, June 8 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 9 at 3 p.m. at Buntyn Presbyterian Church. She leaves two sons, James Donald Tate and wife, Helen of Vonore, TN and Dr. Bob Tate and wife, Karen of Southaven, MS; two grandsons, Brian Tate and Erik St. John and wife, Brianne; and great-grandson, Langston of Senatobia, MS She was a member of Buntyn Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where she was active in the Presbyterian Women and an Elder of the church. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee in Home Economics and was a member of the American Home Economics Association and The Tennessee Home Economics Association, where she served on the Board several years. She was a charter member of the Memphis and Shelby County Home Economist in home-making. After serving 20 years as a volunteer, she was a life member of St. Frances Hospital Auxiliary and Volunteer service. She had one brother, Mike Cannon, now deceased and one sister, Anne Fuller of Cordova, TN. The family requests any memorials be made to Buntyn Presbyterian Church.
