Dorcye Frank Brown's Obituary
Frank Brown went home to be with his Lord April 11, 2013 in the early evening hours while he was at his home in Fort Myers, Florida. Born in Memphis, Tennessee on October 30, 1933, Frank Brown was a man that never met a stranger. He will be terribly missed by his many friends and family members. For the past 15 years he and his wife, Carla (married 57 years), have lived in Fort Myers, Florida at Fiddlesticks Country Club. During these years they also maintained a home in Memphis to visit family of whom he is survived by his two sons Gary (wife Lisa) and Alex (wife Jean) and six grandchildren, Jeanine, Stephen, Hudson, Ian, Carli and Alexander. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Engelbrechdt of Manchester, TN. Although born in Memphis, Mr. Brown moved to Laurel Mississippi at an early age where he graduated from Laurel High School and then attended Jones Junior College. He was then drafted to play with the Boston Red Sox and traveled several years with their farm league. Frank was an assistant coach of the Memphis State University baseball program in the early 1960’s. Mr. Brown was President and Owner of V. Alexander & Co., Inc., along with his wife Carla since the early 1960’s. Frank was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also the city singles bowling champion in the 60’s and he and his father were the city doubles bowling champions also. His golf memberships were at both Chickasaw Country Club and Colonial Country Club. He was club champion at both clubs as well as past president of the Tennessee Golf Association. While he will be greatly missed by his family and friends, we all know he is celebrating with a healthy body and is already getting a read on the greens at some of God’s best golf courses. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday April 16th at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery with graveside services to follow.
