Donald Vick's Obituary
Donald O. Vick, 67, passed away June 3, 2012. He was born October 21, 1944 in Memphis, TN to Sarah Kressenberg and Eddie Carlton Vick. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Georgia Siler Vick and three sons, Andrew Vick (Karrie), Chris Vick (Sherri), and Kevin Vick (Deborah). He was “Da” to seven wonderful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren whom he adored and they adored him. His surviving grandchildren are Stefanie Lee Ann Rawlinson, Michale Jordan Vick, Jessica Lauren Vick, Christian Siler Vick, Savannah Nicole Vick, Dylan Michael Vick, and Jonathan Edward “Joey” Vick and great-grandchildren are Gracen Marie Rawlinson, Grant Siler Rawlinson, and Cameron McCann Vance. He also leaves his sister, Connie McCollum; brother, Carlton Vick; sister-in-law, Mona Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, George Williams; sister, Jean Harris; brothers, Kenneth Vick and Roland Williams. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1962. He served thirteen years in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After leaving the Navy, he went back to school and received his college degree from State Technical Institute. He then worked for Mid-South Oxygen Company for 16 years as a traffic and distribution manager. He later opened his own business, Heart and Soul Antiques in Collierville, TN. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid Memphis Tiger’s basketball fan. He enjoyed puttering around the home and doing yard work. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Collierville, TN. Stricken with frontotemporal dementia in 2007 at the young age of 63 years, he fought hard for five years. He is now in Heaven with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. You will forever be in our hearts and never forgotten!! Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, June 5 at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 6 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home, Humboldt, TN and Baptist Trinity Hospice House, Collierville, TN.
