Donald L. Jordan's Obituary
Donald L. Jordan, Sr., 81, died Sunday, October 30th at his home. Don attended Malden schools through high school and attended Arkansas St. and Ole Miss. Don graduated from Memphis State University with a BBA degree in accounting and then obtained his CPA certification. Following graduation from MSU in 1960, his career spanned 45 years with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co, Leader Federal S & L, Depositors Savings Association of Jackson, MS, National Bank of Commerce, and as CFO for the D. Canale & Co. for 19 years, where he retired. He was a member of Financial Executives International (FEI), served as their Memphis Chapter President and as FEI National Director for one term. He was also a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Tennessee Society of CPAs. Don was an avid supporter of the University of Memphis, a life member of the U of M alumni association, and a member the Highland Hundred. As a teenager, Don was proud of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, serving a summer on the waterfront staff at Camp Lewallen near Fredricktown, MO and being selected as a member of the Golden Sun (later known as the Order of the Arrow). Don participated in all sports at Malden High School. The most important thing in Don’s life was his family and deep Christian faith. Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Linda Wray Jordan of Memphis, TN and their four children, Elizabeth Orians (Steve), Lynn Armstrong (Bill), Donald Jordan, Jr. (Ginger), Gregory M. Jordan (Rachel) all of Memphis, TN. He was grandfather to eight; Ali, Nick and Katie Concklin and Brian Armstrong, Stephen and Matt Orians, and Gregory, Samuel and Andrew Jordan. Don was preceded in death by his parents Opal and Alvin Jordan of Malden, MO and older sister, Virginia McConnell. Don is survived by younger brothers, Gene Jordan (Karen) of Gladstone, MO and Robert Jordan (Marilyn) of Adamsville, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2nd at Memorial Park from 5-7 p.m. with Rosary following. Funeral mass will be Thursday, November 3rd at 10 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church.
