Donald Damon Garrett's Obituary
Donald Damon Garrett, age 82, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on November 3, 2025. He was born to Laverne and Horace Garrett of Memphis on January 23, 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Barry and Ronald Garrett; and his sister, Carolyn Brown.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Sara Garrett, and his children: Keith Garrett and his wife, Christi; Damon Garrett and his wife, Hillary; Gina Farley; and Leslie Vannucci. He was also a proud grandfather to Logan, Brookelynn, Aubrey, Carter, Taylor (Tim), Troy, Jake, and Sara Kate, and a great-grandfather to Kate.
A graduate of Central High School, Donald continued his education at Memphis State University, where he earned his degree. He dedicated 31 years of his professional life as a Senior IT Specialist with the Memphis Police Department. He was also a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and later in the Naval Reserve.
Donald was an active and faithful member of First Assembly of Memphis Church since 2003. He was also a long-standing member of the Memphis Bop Club. For many years, he volunteered at the Memphis Police Gun Range, where his passion for service and the community truly shone through.
The service was originally scheduled for January 24, 2026. Due to inclement weather. The service will be rescheduled at later day.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Donald’s legacy of faith, service, and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
