Donald "Donnie" Barry Angel's Obituary
Donald (Donnie) Barry Angel was born on October 26, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee. Donnie graduated from Germantown High School and earned a degree in Engineering from Memphis State University. Donnie worked for many years with his father as a general contractor for Angel Construction Company. He always boasted that the company contributed to the development of much of the s skyline. He was most proud of his contribution in the renovation of the "grand hotel of the South” Memphis Peabody. He later pursued a second successful career in financial planning.
Donnie was very patriotic and an accomplished pilot. He donated over 20 years to the Civil Air Patrol ascending to the rank of a full bird" colonel. He became the “wing commander” for the state of Mississippi and flew many missions to areas recovering from hurricane disasters including hurricane Katrina. He was later appointed the National Treasurer of the Civil Air Patrol and spent many weekends working at the Pentagon.
Through his life, Donnie earned the love, admiration and respect of not only those within his community, but military men and women throughout the country. He is preceded in death by his parents Milton and Dorothy (Dolly) Angel and his twin brother Ronnie. He is survived by his loving wife Susan Christine Angel, stepson and daughter-in-law Adam and Michelle Levin, sisters Emily (Dennis) Angel Baer, Melinda (Stewart) Rothenberg and many nephews and nieces. Donnie will be missed by all who knew him and I had the privilege and honor to call him my husband.
Graveside Service for Donnie will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Memorial Park Cemetery.
