Dolores Ostrowski's Obituary
Dolores Ann Ostrowski went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2015. She passed away peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children, Lynn Ostrowski Koeneman of St. Louis, MO and Thomas Alan (Tommy) Ostrowski of Memphis, TN. Dolores is survived by her sister Alice Stanczak, her son-in-law Brad Koeneman, and her two beloved grandchildren, Bradford Drew Koeneman and Kimberly Blair Koeneman. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony “Tony” Ostrowski (d. 1988) and her son John Anthony Ostrowski (d. 1991). Affectionately also known to family and friends as Mom, Grammy, Mama O, Mrs. O, and Dee, Dolores was born in Philadelphia, PA, on February 27, 1930, and attended Catholic schools there. In 1971, Dolores and Tony moved to Memphis, where they raised their children Lynn, John, and Tommy. Dolores was very involved with her church home, Church of the Holy Spirit, and also attended daily mass at Holy Rosary Church during the past several years. She loved to entertain and held an annual open house at Easter and Christmas for her many friends. A fabulous cook, she was known for baking and sharing her cookies and Polish specialties. Dolores began a catering business and catered many weddings and large parties in the ‘80s and ‘90s, gaining quite a following for her delicious fare. She also enjoyed dancing and was an active volunteer in her community. Always gracious, generous and at ease with everyone, Dolores attracted many special friends throughout her life. One was her long-time companion Charles Toney (d. 2009) with whom she traveled the world. Dolores loved spending time with her family, her church community, the Birthday Club girls, her bridge group, and the Friday night poker group. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, from 4-6 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, December 28, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2300 Hickory Crest Drive, Memphis. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Church of the Holy Spirit.
