Dolores "Dolly" L. Shively's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Dolores “Dolly” L. Shively of Memphis, TN announces her passing on December 27, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born Jan 22, 1927 in Muenster, Texas to Joseph H. and Agnes C. Fette Lehnertz. Dolores graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Muenster, Texas and attended Cadet training at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Fort Worth, TX during WWII from 1945-1948. After nurses training, she started working at the VA Hospital in McKinney, Texas in 1948, Ottumwa, Iowa in 1953-1957 and the VA Hospital in Memphis, TN until her retirement in 1989 with 39 years of dedicated service. During her nursing career she received honors of “Nurse of the Year” from the VA Hospital and the respect and admiration of her co-workers. She is survived by her two daughters Catherine “Bird” L. Garrison and husband Larry of Eads, TN., and Patricia “Patty” A Stidman and husband Brent of Jonesboro, AR.; grandchildren; Andy W. Garrison of Memphis, TN. Paul A. Garrison of Memphis, TN. Lance W. Waters of New Orleans, LA, and Nathan B. Waters of San Francisco, CA. Her brothers Dave Lehnertz and wife Jane of Spokane, WA, Floyd Lehnertz and wife Patricia of Soundertown, RI, Donny Lehnertz of Spokane, WA, Claude Lehnertz of Priest River, IA. And Theresa Lehnertz of Gainesville, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill G. Shively, her son William J. Shively, both her parents, and brothers, Eugene Lehnertz, Earl Lehnertz, Jimmy Lehnertz, Giles Lehnertz, Quintin Lehnertz. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, December 31 from 1-2pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 5668, Poplar Avenue in Memphis. There will be a private burial immediately following the visitation. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for their care and loving support during Mrs. Shively’s illness.
