Dickie Gauthreaux's Obituary
Dickie Gauthreaux, 82, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at Methodist Hospital in Germantown, TN. He was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on July 19, 1931, to parents, Maggie and Dick Gauthreaux, Sr. He graduated from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and attended Louisiana State University. The LSU Tigers would remain his all-time favorite team.In 1969 he came to Memphis to work for Terminix International and retired as President and COO in 1997, having spent his entire career in the pest control industry. After retiring he served on many committees and boards, including the Board of St. Peter Villa Nursing Home for 15 years. He was Chairman of the Board the last 10 of those years. He also served on several Diocese committees and at the time of his death was still serving as Chairman of the Finance Committee of his parish church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where he and his wife Sue Chris are long-time parishioners. Dickie also had served on the Board of Trustees of Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School and had recently been given an honorary life membership to the Knights of Columbus. Dickie was an avid golfer, who enjoyed playing at Colonial Country Club, however, his favorite mode of relaxation was spending time at their beach home in Orange Beach, Alabama.He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sue Chris Gauthreaux; children Vicki Claunch and husband George; Donna Bucak and husband Rick; Debo Tracewell and husband Rob; Thad Wilson and wife Steph; and AmyBeth Hastings and husband Greg; sister MiMi Guichet and husband Dr. Niles; brother Tommy Gauthreaux and wife Elaine; grandchildren Dustin and Amanda Scheffsky, Amber, Shannon and Crystal Claunch; Andy and Mark Bucak; Madison, Jake and Tucker Tracewell; Taylor and Madeline Wilson, Tony and Jeff Scardino, Emma Bethel; Avery and Miller Hastings; and three great grandchildren.A private entombment at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery will precede Funeral Mass. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, April 30, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church,8151 Poplar Avenue in Germantown, with a visitation/reception to immediately follow the service.
