Diane Tyson's Obituary
Diane Uhlmann Tyson, 66, died at Methodist University Hospital on August 21, 2011. Ms. Tyson was predeceased by her father George Uhlmann, her sister Jan Uhlmann, and brother Chris Uhlmann. She is survived by her daughters Kelly Tyson and Brenda Breedlove, and her son David Tyson. A retired nurse and floor director for Methodist Healthcare, Diane graduated from Immaculate Conception High School for Girls and the Methodist Healthcare School of Nursing. At Methodist, she rose from staff nurse to floor manager in a mere five years. The floor she managed at Methodist University Hospital was recognized nationally for having the highest patient satisfaction score in the country. The oldest of five siblings, Diane is also survived by her mother, Kate Uhlmann, and brothers Mark Uhlmann and Rob Uhlmann (Mimi), nephew Alex Uhlmann and niece Ellen Uhlmann. As the oldest child, Diane often helped in the care of her younger brothers and sister, especially in the care of her disabled brother, Chris, who suffered from cerebral palsy. Later, Diane aided in the care of her mother, father, and grandparents, acting both as nurse and caregiver in their time of need. Diane’s family is grateful for the care of Dr. Nawar Mansour and Dr. Shawn Hayden during her illness, and for the support of friends Jennie Wilkins, Lynn Bishop, and Rose Mackey. Visitation will be Thursday , August 25 at 10 a.m., immediately followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Poplar. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Madonna Learning Center.
