Diane Burns Taylor's Obituary
Diane Burns Taylor, 78, went to her Heavenly home on December 15, 2016. Diane was born May 24, 1938, to Dorothy Wilburn and James Newell Burns. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and more recently by her beloved brother, James (Jim) Burns, Jr. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Dr. Herbert A. Taylor, III and her two sons and their families, Herbert “Herb” A. Taylor, IV (Christy) and their daughters, Anna Grace and Mary Margaret Taylor and James Anthony “Tony” Taylor (Kristy) and their children, Matt and Amanda Taylor. Diane also leaves her sister, Joanne Burns Bogart (Dr. John) of Niceville, Florida; sister-in-law, Susie Burns, of Southaven, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews. Diane graduated from Forrest City High School and attended the University of Arkansas and Memphis State University, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Fraternity. Diane lived her life to the fullest. Her competitive personality led her to riding hunter-jumpers as a member of the Oak Grove Hunt Club. She loved tennis and frequently played in summer leagues. However, her greatest joy probably came from watching her two boys compete in their various sporting events! She was their number one fan, and they knew it! Diane loved all aspects of retail clothing. She loved sales and her buying trips to New York and Dallas were special moments in her life. Not only did she model, but she coordinated many fashion shows for a multitude of Memphis organizations. Diane served in many leadership capacities. She served as president of the Tennessee Medical Auxiliary, Memphis Shelby County Medical Auxiliary, Women’s Exchange of Memphis, and Junior Kennedy Book Club. She was a current member of the River Oaks Garden Club and past member of their Executive Committee. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 20 at Christ United Methodist Church at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will commence two hours before the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial donations be made to either Church Health, the William Bouknight Memorial Fund at Christ United Methodist Church, the Wings Foundation at West Cancer Center, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
