Dewitt "Sonny" Stroud, Jr.'s Obituary
Dewitt “Sonny” Stroud, Jr., 73, passed away on February 5, 2018. He was born in New Albany, MS and grew up in Potts Camp, MS where he played basketball and baseball. Mr. Stroud was a member of the 1960-1961 Potts Camp Basketball team that captured the A-AA, B-BB Overall State Championship. He then went to play baseball for NorthWest Mississippi Junior College. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968. Upon his return from Vietnam he earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Memphis State University in Accounting. Mr. Stroud was the CFO for Delta Refinery before he started his own C.P.A. firm. He was also part owner of Bull Market, INC and past owner of Memphis Barge Line. In his free time he enjoyed anything Ole Miss and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Linda Kelly Stroud, two sons, Kenneth Damon Stroud and Jeff Stroud (Stephanie), and one daughter, Jenny Ezzell (Bubba), five grandchildren, Kody Stroud, Destyne Stroud, Mason Ezzell, Wilson Ezzell, and Witt Ezzell. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in West TN Veteran’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
