Dewayne Bolton's Obituary
Dewayne Patridge Bolton, 78, went to be with the Lord on Friday August 1st at Baptist Trinity Hospice after a brave fight with cancer. He was a man of God, devoted husband, loving father, adoring grandfather and veteran.Born on December 7th, 1935 in Memphis, TN, Dewayne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon; daughters, Kelly Bolton (Sam), Shannon Lenoir (David) and Stephanie McEver (Dan) and grandchildren, Whitney, Davis, Christian, Avery and Addison.Dewayne was a graduate of Treadwell High School. He attended college at Memphis State University, where he was a member of the ROTC and a stellar athlete on the track team, and he continued this passion for many years as he become a nationally ranked Senior Olympian. Upon graduation, Dewayne served in the United States Air Force as a navigator on the F-101 Voodoo fighter jet under the call sign “Bolts.” After serving his country with honor, Dewayne had an invention patented and went on to start several technology companies. Upon retirement, he turned in his tie for a tractor as he cared for his Fayette county property and enjoyed doting on his grandchildren.Dewayne was a man of great faith and was a member of Grace Evangelical Church. This faith, coupled with his tremendous love of family, will be his legacy. His life was a testament of service to his Savior, family and country. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 3 at Memorial Pak Funeral Home. A private family interment will immediately follow. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Grace Evangelical Church, the Wounded Warriors Project or the March of Dimes Memphis chapter.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Ave. Memphis, TN 38119, ” Behind the Stone Wall”.
