Dennis Randall "Randy" Worley's Obituary
Dennis Randall Worley, known by many as “DaddyGaga”, and as “Randy” by most left this world on January 31, 2019 after a three-year battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma. Randy spent his final days sharing funny stories and telling his family how much they were loved. When granddaughter, Hailey Chandler Dick was asked what her DaddyGaga taught her, she replied “He taught me that it was okay to be weird.” He beat to his own drummer and his family loved him for that. He leaves loved ones with endless stories of his career as a manufacturer’s rep, shenanigans with hunting buddies, the races he had run and escapades with his younger brothers Pat and Craig Worley.Randy married his childhood sweetheart and most beautiful majorette, Denise Chandler Worley, or “Mimi”. They followed one another to Louisiana Tech and together, shared 52 years of marriage. He was quick to point out that they were friends since eleven. At “Tech” they started their family. Randy’s proudest moments involve his children Jeffrey Worley of Raleigh, North Carolina and Lisa Worley Dick and Son in Law Ken Dick of Germantown, Tennessee. So many of their family memories involve boating. Every spring they would pile into the ski boat bundled in blankets and beach towels in the anticipation of the coming boating season. Even the dogs would come along for these chilly adventures. Randy conveyed to Jeff memories of watching him run cross country, up-hill, covered in mud, and sprinting toward the finish lines. Randy admitted he would cry with pride. He didn’t care what anybody thought of a grown man in tears watching his son. Randy recalled helping his daughter Lisa, run her paint parties, playing DJ and leading the wine sipping painters in dances and songs. He wore an apron that said “Precious”. He really got a kick out of the painters calling him “precious”. He remembered with great gratitude the time he spent with granddaughter, Hailey, plotting and planning camping and kayaking adventures. He taught her how to shoot a gun, set up camp and so much more. He told of singing at the top of their lungs on those trips. How else would she know the greatest hits of the 60’s and 70’s by heart? There were many mountain biking trips with son in law, Ken, over the slippery rocks of the Ozark foothills. They shared a love of motorcycles. Oh, How Randy loved his Harleys! Other Ozark adventures involved setting up camp, cooking and boating at the Buffalo River with his brother in law Randy Chandler. He loved his animals too! Randy trained his prized hunting dogs and rescued just about any four-legged friend that he could.Denise thanks their beloved neighbors and friends in Oakland that looked after and cared for him over the last few years. The family will host a celebration of Randy’s life on February 11, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Buckley’s Lunchbox at 919 South Yates. In lieu of flowers, they request donations be made to Fayette County Animal Rescue www.fayettefcar.com
