Della Lambert's Obituary
Della Comella Lambert, 61, of Horn Lake, MS, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 15 from 5:00-8:00PM with the funeral mass to be held at St. Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, March 16 at 10:00AM. Burial will follow at Forrest Hill Cemetery South. Della was born to Michael and Mary (Hoing) Comella on March 21, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Whitehaven High School and later received a degree in Music Education from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University). A devout Catholic, Della was a fixture at St. Paul parish. She worked as the music teacher at St. Paul Catholic School for nearly 40 years, influencing the lives of many students. She also served as music director for St. Paul Church, choir director for both the children and adult choirs, and sang at numerous weddings and funerals. Her “Ave Maria” and “How Great Thou Art” are legendary. Singing and teaching were her passions, but she also enjoyed acting, dancing, scrapbooking, bargain shopping and fishing. Having experienced much loss throughout her life, she proudly volunteered at Camp Good Grief, lending her musical talents to help others through their grieving process. Della is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary; three brothers Herman, Daniel and Michael Comella; a sister Becky Davis; her twin sons Aaron Michael and Gabriel Thomas Lambert; and her husband George “Buddy” Lambert, Jr. Della is survived by her sons Daniel and Benjamin Lambert. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Baptist Reynolds Hospice house for their support in her final days.
