DeLaurice L. Roaten's Obituary
DeLaurice Love Roaten, in memory of our mother, DeLaurice, we will never forget you, we will always miss you and we will never stop loving you. Mrs. Roaten, went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2011, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born August 18, 1926 in Paris Tennessee to Fred M. and Mildred Weatherly Love and moved to Memphis as a teenager where she graduated from Memphis Business School. Following her graduation, she began a 30 year career as a Floral Designer working for several area shops including Idewild Florist, and Jack-Jackson Florist, while the majority of her career was spent with Ramsey’s Florist. Her designs were contracted by the Peabody, Elvis Presley and many public displays within Memphis. She was a long-time member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Aldersgate Sunday school class; served in the Stephen’s ministry; and attended the WOW Bible study and Tom Murray’s Bible study for many years. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Cody of Florida, by her two children; Michael Bayer of Germantown, Vicki Bayer Gandee of Germantown, by her son-in-law Todd Gandee of Germantown, and by her five grandsons, Danny Lincoln, David Lincoln, Andrew Gandee, Thomas Gandee and Jackson Gandee. A private burial will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
