Debora Lee Richardson's Obituary
Debora Lee Richardson, beloved friend and family member, passed away on May 8, 2018. Debora, known to friends and family as “Debbie,” was the seventh generation descendant of Henry Mayes, one of the original settlers of Tennessee (1799, Grainger County). Debbie was born on September 29, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Marcella C. Richardson and Charles H. Richardson Jr. She graduated from Ridgeway High School in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon completing her college associates degree, she continued higher education and ultimately specialized in the field of medical coding. Her career brought her to Semmes Murphey Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked as a medical coder. Debbie’s passions included sketching, hiking, photography, and visits to the mountains, whether it be the Maroon Bells or the Smokey Mountains. She could always be found spending quality time with friends and family and providing a careful listening ear to her loved ones. She possessed a heart of kindness, a sharp memory, and the gifts of patience and courage. She is survived by her three siblings, Nona R. Jones (Rusty), of Nashville, Tennessee, John D. Richardson, of Memphis, Tennessee, and Charles H. Richardson III, of Memphis, Tennessee; nieces and nephews, Rachel J. Holdsworth, of Brooklyn, New York, Grayson V. Jones, of Nashville, Tennessee, Christian L. Cobb, of Hernando, Mississippi, Hunter H. Richardson, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Danielle M. Richardson, of Memphis, Tennessee; great-niece, Scarlett S. Holdsworth, of Brooklyn, New York; great-nephew, George L. Myers, of Memphis, Tennessee; aunt, Doris S. Lane, of Memphis, Tennessee; cousins, Marty D. Lane, of Collierville, Tennessee and William J. Lane, of Collierville, Tennessee; and godmother, Violet B. Evans, of Memphis, Tennessee. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2018, at Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Stephen Ministry at Hope Church, located at 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Memphis, Tennessee 38018.
