Dawn Christine Lankford Towers' Obituary
Dawn Lankford Towers or Dawn Christine Towers
Dawn was born on October 18, 1973 in Memphis, Tennessee to Dr. Bill and Sue Lankford. Dawn had an older brother, Ken. The family stayed in Memphis area and settled in Germantown.
As a young girl, Dawn loved gymnastics. She competed in gymnastics for years. The floor was her favorite event-though it terrified her mother. She got to tumble and dance. Dawn’s grandmother (later called GG) nicknamed her “dipper” because of tumbling abilities.
Dawn attended Briarcrest High School where she was an active student in organizations and a cheerleader as well. So, she got to dance and tumble some more. She graduated in 1991.
Dawn decided to attend the University of Alabama-Roll Tide! While she was at Alabama, Dawn met the love of her life, George Towers. Dawn and George grew close over their years there. The shared a love of music. They went to many concerts, and Dawn fell in love with one of the bands-The Dave Matthews band. They became her favorite group, and later, George made sure to get tickets anytime the band toured close by.
After graduation in 1995, Dawn and George came back to the Memphis area. Dawn went into the family business with Sue and Ken. She learned and excelled at the screen printing and art side of the business.
Dawn and George were married on July 20, 1996. They shared a life of love centered on family, friends, and fun. In August of 1999, Dawn and George had their first child-Elizabeth Hadley Towers. In April of 2003, George Edward Towers III was born into the family. Dawn loved her family fiercely and enjoyed being with them.
Dawn lived simply. She loved the family farm, music, dancing, dogs and sunflowers. She went to be with the Lord surrounded by the love of her family. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered by those left behind.
Dawn was preceded in death by grandparents Clarence and Eunice Walton and Walter and Helen Lankford. Dawn’s legacy is left in the lives of her parents Bill and Sue, brother Ken (Marla, Corey, Emily, and Abby) and most importantly her husband of 27 years, George and her children Elizabeth and George. The sun has set on Dawn, but her light will warm the memories in our hearts.
