Davis "Snake" Taylor's Obituary
Davis “Snake” Taylor (Big D) age 82 passed away Tuesday August 22, 2023. Snake never met a stranger, and he knew everyone. He was a lifelong Memphian. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church for many years. He served many hours working in the church’s local food pantry. Snake worked for GMAC for 25 years and then had a second career with Memphis Auto Auction until the day he passed. Prior to GMAC, Davis worked for Stepherson’s Big Star and Ledbetter Meat Company. Davis also served honorably in the US Army Reserve for six years. Davis was an avid painter. He spent many years painting car windshields and storefronts around town and throughout the Mid-South area. Snake was also an accomplished bowler back in the day and recorded several 300 games during his lifetime.
Davis was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Henry Taylor, his parents Bernice and Elizabeth Taylor, his brother Lynn Taylor and grandson Austin Davis Jarratt. Davis leaves behind his two daughters Terri Jarratt (Jeff) of Germantown, TN and Teresa Carter (Layne) of Locust Grove VA. Big D will be missed by his two grandsons Alex Jarratt (Tiegst) of Memphis, TN and Brad Jarratt of Germantown, TN and step granddaughter Jasmine Camacho (Manny) of San Antonio, TX and a step great granddaughter Ayanna Camacho.
Davis, Snake, Big D will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Memorial Park Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Methodist Healthcare Foundation.
