David C. Walters' Obituary
David Walters passed away on June 10, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on December 31, 1940, he spent his childhood in Garden City, NY, with his parents, Lee and Genevieve (Higgins) Walters. He graduated from Cornell University in electrical engineering and also received his MBA from UCLA.
David lived in New York City, The Hamptons, NY, and enjoyed his retirement in Miami, Florida. For the last 10 years, David lived at Kirby Pines in Memphis, TN.
David is survived by his children, son Reed Walters and his wife Tonya, and daughter Bonnie and her husband Kurt Koehler, Elizabeth Alison, the mother of his children, and six grandchildren: Ashley, Mackenzie, Christopher, Hannah, Parker, and Jordan. He is also survived by his older brother Mike Walters and younger sister Karen Carney.
Despite battling Parkinson's disease since his late 50s, David maintained a passion for travel and visiting new places. He loved collecting Art Deco antiques and was an avid tennis player, playing regularly into his 60s.
David valued the time he spent with family and friends. He had a kind heart and a welcoming spirit, always greeting others with acceptance and humor. He inspired his children and grandchildren to embrace their individuality.
David was curious by nature, often tinkering with electronics and gadgets in his free time. He was also a dedicated woodworker, always eager to learn and create. Despite the challenges of Parkinson's disease, David lived life on his terms.
David will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
