David William Sloan's Obituary
David William Sloan 52 of Bartlett, TN born April 25, 1971 was called home to his Lord and Savior on March 10, 2024. He passed away at St. Francis Hospital Bartlett from an acute cardiac/respiratory arrest.
David will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, intelligence and his wonderful sense of humor. He was particularly proud that he was full of what he like to call " useless information" and he was always ready with a dad joke or two.
David was a devoted, loving and protective husband, father, brother, uncle, great uncle and friend. He leaves behind his wife of 29 years, Tonya, his 26-year-old son, Matthew, his siblings Karen (Larry) Hawkins, Tom Sloan, Donna (Paul) Williams as well as 3 nieces, 3 nephews, a great niece and 5 great nephews. He is preceded in death by his mom, Shelia and his dad, Thomas.
David graduated from Frayser High School in 1989. He then fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a police officer graduating from the Memphis Police Academy in 1993. He had a full and successful career with the Memphis Police Department and retired as a lieutenant in 2018. In that same year, he then had the opportunity to become an investigator in the Shelby County District Attorney's office where he was employed at the time of his passing. David could not have been more thankful for a lifetime of doing exactly what he loved; his job was his purpose and passion.
David had a number of hobbies - he put his heart into the things he enjoyed. David enjoyed drawing, shooting pool, guns, traveling, reading, collecting comic books and listening to music - RUSH being his all-time favorite band.
David was truly a blessing to all the lives he touched and will be deeply missed especially by those he loved most.
