I received your letter and was shocked and very sad to hear about Dr. David. My heart goes out to you, your family and the Neal Dental Office family. I had been a patient for many years and through the years we shared many stories. He was a great dentist, but more important he was a friend to everyone. I remember sitting in the dental chair waiting for the shot to take effect and I could hear him chatting away with the patient in the next room — this always made me smile. He treated everyone the same, he was always smiling and never at a loss for words. Over the years our conversations covered many topics — travel, Costco, world events, politics (we were on the same side), my shoes, how heavy my handbag was, candy bars, gardening and last but not least family. He loved his family and always inquired about my husband, which was so kind. I will always remember Dr. Neal as a genuine, caring and happy person who lived life to the fullest. His life gave so many people who sat in his dental chair such great memories. He will truly be missed.Debbie Peoples
Reading all the memories of the Dr. Neals brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. I started going to Dr. Neal Sr. when I first moved to Memphis more years ago than I care to remember. I had had some bad childhood experiences with dentists. A friend of mine told Dr. Neal that I needed a dentist but was afraid to come in. Dr. Neal told her he’d like to see me. I’d never had any dentist say he’d like to see me so I went and have gone to all three Dr. Neals, in turn, ever since. When I first met David he wasn’t even a dentist yet, but was helping in the office and got the keys out of my car when I locked them in. All three Dr. Neals were kind sweet men and have taken care of my teeth for a long time and my daughter’s teeth all her life. I miss Dr. David already and know I will for a very long time.Meg Jones
I went to HS with David and some of my fondest memories of Germantown HS were funny antics in the hallway between classes..always light-hearted and fun to be around. RIP David Neal.
My husband Walker H. Hurdle, Jr. first took me to Dr. Neal in 1973 and I never missed an appointment. He was the only dentist I looked forward to going to. I started going every 3 month just because it always made me feel good. Dr. David promised me I would never have dental problems I heard from others. “You will keep all your teeth, especially the ones you floss” was a quote on his wall. I am so very sorry. His dying is a loss to the whole world. My God give you the peace that passes all understanding. Mary Ann Hurdle Holly Springs
I got a letter in the mail today that shook me to my core. The nicest man in the world had passed away. I was just in there in February and we were talking about how much we loved soda, he was saying how he loved his Mountain Dew. My husband has gone to the Neal’s since he was a young boy. I started going when I moved to Memphis ten years ago. We loved them so my that when my dental insurance took them out of network, we signed up for dental with my husband’s company just so we could not stop going there. My heart is with the family, if I am heartbroken, I can only imagine what the family is dealing with. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. The Brooks Family (Ventez & Tornika)

My Heart is broken, I just found out about David. I have been going to The Neal’s for over 30 years, first with Chuck then David. I am in a loss for words. David was the kindest and most gentlest man there is, he always was in the best mood. I’ll never forget the day my grandson feel and busted his lip and his tooth was hit, it was on a Saturday and we called David and he said I’ll meet you at my office, they weren’t even his patients at the time. After that they became his patients. We will never forget David. Prayers for the many friends and family.Barbara Millard
