David Everett Medford's Obituary
In the early morning hours of May 25th, 2023, David Everett Medford, surrounded by his loved ones, went home to be with the Lord.
David was born on February 4, 1953, in Memphis, TN, to J.T. and Violet (nee Parrish) Medford. The youngest of five children, he was an inquisitive and curious child with a love for sports and music. He attended Frayser High School where he played on both the basketball and golf teams. He also worked in the family bakery from the age of 14, and it was here that he developed a love of cooking. When he wasn’t playing sports or working in the bakery, he could be found tinkering under the hood of his car or cruising through Shelby Forest going the wrong direction on the one-way roads.
On July 25th, 1970, he married the love of his life, Linda. Over the next 12 years, they would welcome 3 children: Brian Everett on February 8, 1971 (passed November 26, 1973), Cierra Davida on April 20, 1980, and AdriAnne Parrish on September 1, 1981. He instilled in his daughters a strong sense of independence, shared with them his love of cooking, music, and life, and always advised them to “take trouble out of play”.
In his free time, David enjoyed cooking, camping, fishing, woodworking, playing the guitar and piano and most of all- golf. He would often spend his weekends on the fairways of the Links of Davy Crockett, perfecting his game and forging lifelong friendships with those who were fortunate enough to play with him.
David was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. His passing leaves an unfillable hole in the hearts of those who loved him most. The world is a much quieter place without the sound of his guitar and his laughter.
David leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Linda, his two daughters, Cierra Bridges and AdriAnne Medford, his sister, Pat Booth, his grandsons, Noel and Trey Medford, his granddaughters, Sophia and Sela Bridges, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Brian Everett Medford, his parents J.T. and Violet Medford, his brothers Lewis and Tommy Medford, and his sister, Rachel Elaine Patterson.
“When I get to heaven, I’m gonna shake God’s hand and thank him for more blessings than one man can stand.” – John Prine, When I Get to Heaven
