Mr. David E. Gribble peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by family at the Methodist Hospice Residence on June 7, 2018 in Memphis, TN at the age of 89.David is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Grace Grisham Gribble (88), son David Kirby Gribble (67) married to Rebecca Mayer Gribble (66) and son Kenneth Wayne Gribble (59) married to Jill Conlee Gribble (54), grandchildren Betsy Gribble Vincent (41) married to Steven Taylor Vincent (43), Joy Caroline Gribble (38), Mary Grace Gribble Dawkins (36) married to Charles Christopher Dawkins (39), David Kirby Gribble Jr. (29) married to Sarah Thorne Gribble (32), Hannah Gribble Martin (26) married to Jacob Edwin Martin (26), Hollie Gribble Gillihan (26) married to Joel Charles Gillihan (25), Hunter Kenneth Gribble (24), Hudson Will Gribble (22) married to Taylor Lee Gribble (21), Hope Marline Gribble (18), and great grandchildren Honey Rebekah Vincent (16) and Truman Taylor Vincent (13).David was born on October 27, 1928 in Memphis, TN to Rowland C. Gribble and Adolphy G. Gribble. He married Grace, his high school sweetheart on April 18, 1947. After working a variety of jobs in his lifetime, he retired from the City of Memphis. He was an active and dedicated member of the Church of Christ and taught Sunday school.His sons remember him as a kind, gentle, hardworking father who encouraged them to love the Lord and be devoted and faithful husbands and fathers themselves. He was an avid joke teller and devoted fan to his sons and grandchildren. He was passionate about trains, engines, and Big Band music, but he loved his Lord, wife, and family above all.A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday June 9, 2018 at 10:00 am at Memorial Park, with a visitation preceding at 9:00 am. Larry McKenzie will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life.
