David A. Cardot's Obituary
David A Cardot passed away peacefully Sunday, April 25 2021. He was 81 years old, lived a full life, and was a friend to everyone he met!
He was born on September 18, 1939 in Erie, PA. He enjoyed swimming, playing water polo, and eventually became a lifeguard on Lake Erie. He went on to attend Colgate University in Hamilton, NY where he studied philosophy and business. After college, he proudly served in the Navy for 4 years and was able to travel the world.
He met the love of his life on a blind date in New York and was married soon after. They eventually wound up in Germantown, TN where they raised their 4 boys. David was a devoted father and husband and was involved in all of his children’s various activities. Above all, he was a faithful servant to his Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Before he got sick, he spent most of his time serving others. He was a long time church and staff member at Central Church. He volunteered at Calvary Mission feeding and praying for the homeless. He visited and prayed for prisoners in jail. He also visited and prayed for the sick in the hospital.
He was involved in several small groups, support groups, bible studies, and mission trips.
David A Cardot was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Jean Cardot, his wife Gail, and his son Chris. He is survived by his sons Scott Cardot (Erika), Matt Cardot, and Jonny Cardot (Jamie). He leaves behind 6 grandchildren Vanessa Price, Manuela Cardot, Bridgitte Cardot, Collin Cardot, Owen Cardot, and Harper Cardot. He also leaves behind his sister Sally Moore (James), as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, April 29 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis. The funeral will be on Friday, April 30 at eleven thirty in the morning also at the funeral home. The committal service will immediately follow.
