Darthy Faye Johnston Marshall's Obituary
Darthy Faye Johnston Marshall, 89, of Memphis was born on August 13, 1927 to James Madden and Novelia B. Johnston in Lake County, TN. Married June 8, 1947 to Leon Ray Marshall, Sr. at St. Marks Methodist Church in Memphis with the Rev. J.C. Gilbert officiating, and they went on to celebrate their 62nd wedding anniversary. She went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2017. Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; son, Leon Ray Marshall, Jr.; daughter, Baby Girl Marshall; son-in-law, John Thomas Rutland, Jr.; and brother, James Dwight Johnston. Mrs. Marshall is survived by her daughter, Amy F. Marshall Rutland; sister, Joy Carver (Gerald); three grandchildren, Heather Leigh Rutland King (John King, Sr.), Lauren Elizabeth Rutland, and John Thomas Rutland, III; and two-great grandchildren, Ian Thomas Rutland and John Robert King, Jr. She was a graduate of “Mrs. Wylie’s” Business School and retired from National Bank of Commerce, currently SunTrust. She was a member of Raleigh United Methodist Church, and a resident at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday May 17 with family receiving friends for visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Raleigh United Methodist Church or Memphis Union Mission.
