Danny Chou's Obituary
Danny Chou, a loving husband, brother, and father, peacefully departed this life on January 7, 2026, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and soon after moved to Cotton Plant, Arkansas, during his childhood years. He lived and worked alongside his parents and siblings at Joe Wong’s Grocery Store before moving to Memphis, Tennessee, to attend Memphis State University. He later began a career with the U.S. Treasury Internal Revenue Service, where he worked for more than 30 years. After retiring, he settled in Bartlett, Tennessee, where he spent the remaining part of his life enjoying time with family and remaining active in the community he loved.
Danny was a vital part of his community and an active member of First Chinese Baptist Church and the Mid-South Chinese Association, where he helped oversee the finances of both organizations. He was widely known as someone people could always rely on, not only for his dedication and service, but also for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. He had a gift for bringing people together and was often the one to make everyone laugh, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Woo Chou, and his father, Foon Hong Chou, as well as his brother, Donald Chou, and his sister, Wendy Hong. He is survived by his wife, Shuting Li Chou, and his daughter, Carolin Li Chou; his brother and spouse, William and Yu-Chi Chou, his brother Don's wife, Jue Ann, his sister Wendy's husband, Leo, and many nieces and nephews.
