Daniel Ray Swift's Obituary
Daniel Ray Swift, 53, died Sept. 19, 2016 at his home in Cordova, TN. Dan was born on Jan. 6, 1963 to Donald and Mary Ann (Koeritz) Swift. He attended St. James Lutheran School in Northrop and graduated from Fairmont High School, Class of 1981. He married Karen Veverka in 1996, shortly after which they moved to Memphis, TN. Dan spent his career in construction management and for the past decade he worked exclusively on international construction projects. Through his work and leisure, Dan traveled extensively in the world. Dan also chose to spend many years as an at-home dad and adored his two children. He was a baseball and soccer coach, and taught many to wakeboard and waterski at his weekend lake home. Dan was also an avid sports enthusiast both as a player and spectator, and remained loyal to MN teams. He was an active member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Memphis and served on the school board for Christ the King Lutheran School for over 6 years. Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Memphis. Interment will be at a later date at St. James Lutheran Cemetery, rural Northrop. Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran School (ctkschool.com), Memphis, or to Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Dan is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Veverka Swift; son, Jacob; daughter, Anna; his mother, Mary Ann Harder of Fairmont; sisters, Pat (Art) Sohre of Lake Crystal, Bev Graplar of Fairmont; brothers Steve (Lisa) of Fairmont and Tim (Michele) of Claremont and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Alvin Swift; and stepfather, Melvin Harder.
